Knewton, a leader in test prep and adaptive learning technology, seeks an experienced leader to serve as VP of Marketing. The VP of Marketing will be a member of the Executive Team and will be responsible for all online and offline marketing initiatives, with an emphasis on driving B2C and B2B interest and conversion behavior. More specifically, this position has responsibility for economically driving visitor traffic, lead generation, new free and paid customer acquisition, revenue, and contribution margin per sale. The VP of Marketing will also have the task of building Knewton into a mainstream brand in the education space.

The successful candidate will build a high-performance marketing department including: Internet marketing, offline marketing, brand, relationship marketing, marketing partnerships and customer support. The VP of Marketing will be charged with driving a forward thinking consumer and B2B marketing strategy/plan that engages customers and helps drive sales conversations. The candidate will be drive the development and performance of the Knewton.com marketing website. S/he will also drive continued evolution of brand platform and positioning and act as the internal and external brand champion. The role calls for an executive who can direct marketing budgets to maximize impact in target audiences, lead market research; develop in-depth understanding of Knewtons customers and customer segments; maximize utilization of the data gained from customers use of Knewton's products; drive direct marketing strategies, and creative marketing communications to build strong loyalty and lead generation. The VP of Marketing will work closely with the Product, Business Development and Sales teams to drive product marketing strategies, as well as act as voice of the consumer and drive customer satisfaction across Knewton. As a key member of the Knewton leadership team, the VP of Marketing will be a strategic, product and business savvy executive who will contribute to continued growth.
Key Characteristics

* 10+ years of marketing experience, including time in a senior management position for a leading and/or fast growing interactive company.
* Ideal experience combines training from a leading B2C/B2B marketing company, plus relevant entrepreneurial experience in a tech company.
* Setting the strategic direction and metrics for all aspects of SEO, SEM and customer acquisition as well as acquisition marketing.
* Demonstrated experience in launching new lines of business and managing brand extensions.
* Track record of superior performance developing and executing effective integrated marketing plans that produce strong business results.
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills. The candidate will have a keen focus on metrics-driven marketing initiatives and ROI for campaigns.
* Can drive a team of internal marketing professionals, as well as manage external agencies effectively.
* Can create and execute a plan to deliver targeted institutional/B2B customer leads to sales via web marketing.
* Significant exposure/experience with direct marketing and strategic business development.
* Excellent managerial skills, is a team player, is not political and can fit culturally.
* Must be able to thrive in very fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
* Has excellent judgement.
* Has highest integrity and respect for others.
* MBA preferred but not required.
